George Brown College Closure in Effect
For the latest information on George Brown College and the Covid-19 – please visit the dedicated George Brown College information page
On March 17 Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared a State of Emergency in the province as part of efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19. This means public events of over 50 people are banned until March 30. All bars and restaurants are closed (except those offering takeout), as well as places of worship, theatres, private schools and daycares. Essential services such as public transit, grocery and convenience stores and pharmacies continue to operate.
George Brown College announced on March 16, that all George Brown College buildings are closed until further notice, with the exception of The George, our student residence. The college’s operations continue but all services will be provided through remote working.
The Office of Research & Innovation remains operational, and most activities, including many ongoing Research & Innovation projects, are planned to continue. Throughout this uniquely challenging circumstance we remain committed to upholding the high quality and standards that have made GBC one of the top research colleges in Canada.
George Brown College is committed to providing as much support as possible to students, employees and community so the George Brown College Counselling team has put together some tips on coping with self-isolation and reducing stress, which we encourage you check out.

SPOTLIGHT ON...

Your R&D team for hire.
No matter what size your company is, building your own in-house R&D department can be a substantial investment. So let us be your R&D. Our partners access new technologies, state of the art equipment and facilities and tap into our college-wide expertise, for a fraction of the cost of an in-house department.

Tap into our networks.
Research and Innovation is aligned with a vast innovation network across Ontario made up of academic institutions, community partners and industry experts. If we can’t help you, we know who can.

Find fresh talent.
We work with a deep pool of cross-college expertise, recruiting our researchers and students in key investigative roles. This means our partners tap into a range of research capabilities and resources to solve research challenges, from prototyping to branding to everything in between.

Keeping IP with Industry.
Our approach is very IP-friendly—we prioritize keeping intellectual property with our partners. We can also connect you to other resources beyond the college if necessary to complete your project.
