Design and Prototyping of a Novel Cooking Appliance for Edible Cup Product

Café Belong

Café Belong is a restaurant and catering business that runs its kitchen out of Evergreen Brickworks and incorporates sustainability into all aspects of its business. Currently Café Belong serves thousands of catering meals each year. Their goal was to create edible and biodegradable serving cups out of plant based materials to reduce waste when catering. George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies and Café Belong partnered to prototype a device that Café Belong will use as a heat setting mold for their serving cups.
