Development of a web-based information dashboard

The GBC Centre for Construction and Engineering has partnered with Fleetmetrica Inc. to assist in the development of their product SafetyMonitor™. Fleetmetrica Inc. is a new business venture incorporated in early 2010 with plans to offer an enhanced web-based information dashboard to commercial heavy truck fleet owners. This Information dashboard will improve safety and reduce the risk of fines and accidents. The goal of this project is to complete the beta version of the product, which will allow the company to go to market with a fully functional program. This will require the GBC student team to build upon the programming work completed in the previous two project phases (development of front end user interface, user screens, data tables, etc.). Specifically, the team is tasked with: • Developing an algorithm to identify off-target fleet performance (used to order the charts produced by the program when the user prompts a report) and integrating it with the program • Automating report generation / distribution (user can select which information will be included in specific reports, who and when they are sent to) • Updating the program “Settings” functionality, and coding to allow users to personalize data displays (user can select what data is displayed on each information screen), company displays, and company / user accounts and passwords • Creating a log-on page and program to allow for automatic log-in (personal vs. public computers) • Updating drill-down information charts: revise layout to include a table of driver / unit scores, and create function for user to change, set and display the target score in the drill-down chart • Completing aesthetic changes (incorporating updated graphics / visuals created as part of phase 2) • documenting the program (Qualitative) deliverables of this third phase include: • Improved efficiency of data retrieval • Improved functionality and navigability • Advanced controls and personalized settings for users
