Multipurpose Desktop Prototyping System

Ross & Doell Industrial Design & Brand Development

As part of their final year project design course, a team of Mechanical Engineering students will design and build a prototype for a multipurpose desktop prototyping system for industrial design partner Ross and Doell. The goal of the project is to create a machine that is numerically controlled and capable of producing complex prototypes by combining a variety of different materials. The prototyping system will be configurable to manufacture a wide variety of parts. This system will optimize all of its resources in order to achieve minimum down time for its various users. The resulting prototype developed from this project will allow Ross and Doell to further develop and test multipurpose prototyping platforms, which will allow them to better service their SME clients.
