Patient Simulation and Clinician Interface for Virtual Therapy Tool

Cinema Suite Inc. is a new animation spin-off of Javelin Technologies Inc., a leading provider of industrial design software, rapid prototyping tools and 3D printers. Cinema Suite is currently developing new animation and live-capture technologies and tools for various industries including gaming, film, healthcare and military applications (including “serious gaming”, training and simulations). Cinema Suite has now begun exploratory development of new “virtual therapy” (VR) solutions for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorders, phobias, and physiotherapy by creating immersive clinician-controlled environments in which patients interact with simulated scenarios. Real-time feedback through use of motion capture and tracking technology allows care providers to monitor a patient’s emotional and physical responses – allowing physiotherapists to identify problematic muscle groups, or psychiatrists to hone in on psychological triggers. In this project, Cinema Suite will partner with George Brown College’s School of Design to improve their VR tool and to create new immersive scenarios. The George Brown research team is led by Jean-Paul Amore, B.Sc, M,Math, Coordinator, Faculty of Business, Arts & Design.
