Understanding Individual Numeracy: How are we doing? Does it matter?

A program of research to explore and add to the understanding of the math learning environment at the college level and examine the efficacy of one specific method of intervention for numeracy remediation. There are three components to this project. 1) A Literature Review on numeracy; 2) An intervention in Foundational Math at George Brown College using the JUMP Math approach (known as CFE or Controlled Field Experiment), involving the George Brown College Centre for Business, School of General Arts and Sciences, and School of Hospitality; 3) and a survey to determine the profile of mathematics professors in the Ontario college system (known as SOCMI). This project will explore and add to the understanding of the math learning environment at the college level.
