Wheelchair CoG Evaluation Tool Development for Toronto Rehab | Phase 2

Toronto Rehab Seating Clinic

Advancements in high performance wheelchair seating have provided numerous adjustment options (headrests, footrests, battery location, etc). The seating therapist faces an increasingly difficult task to adjust the seating for comfort and stability. The proposed evaluation tool will allow the seating therapist to adjust wheelchairs based on patient comfort and safety, and use the evaluation to quantitatively assess the stability of the chair. The system will incorporate a platform with load-cells and a PC terminal which provides results of center of gravity calculations.
