As part of their final year project design course, a team of Mechanical Engineering students will design and build a prototype for a multipurpose desktop prototyping system for industrial design partner Ross and Doell. The goal of the project is to create a machine that is numerically controlled and capable of producing complex prototypes by combining a variety of different materials.

The goal of this project with industrial partner Pluvio Pump is to build upon the work completed last year in a OCE Connections project in creating a portable water pump for developing countries. This year the project team will look at a more affordable and eco-friendly means of pumping water from the ground using an easy and reliable method.

The lab equipment produced by Labtech is generally applicable in various laboratory settings, including medical applications in separation of blood fractions [i.e. platelets, plasma] and in basic research.
