As part of their final year project design course, a team of Mechanical Engineering students will design and build a prototype for a multipurpose desktop prototyping system for industrial design partner Ross and Doell. The goal of the project is to create a machine that is numerically controlled and capable of producing complex prototypes by combining a variety of different materials.

The goal of this project with industrial partner Pluvio Pump is to build upon the work completed last year in a OCE Connections project in creating a portable water pump for developing countries. This year the project team will look at a more affordable and eco-friendly means of pumping water from the ground using an easy and reliable method.
Business Analysis & Prototyping of the Live Well with Parkinson’s Website
Live Well with Parkinson’s Disease Inc., a Toronto-based start-up company headed by Dr. Galit Kleiner-Fisman, and George Brown College have partnered to elicit requirements and develop a user-friendly multimedia prototype website to educate patients and caregivers on Parkinson’s disease, in the hopes of helping to optimize their independence and quality of life.
Benchmarking and Validation of HeartTransverter at George Brown College
Butterfly Energetics Inc.(BEI) is a systems integration company with a focus on sustainable renewable energy solutions. The initial focus of collaboration between George Brown College (GBC) and BEI was on the Heart Transverter (HT). The HT removes the current limitation of renewable energy connections on the electrical grid from instabilities caused by solar and wind energy sources.
Development of a Wheelchair CoG (Centre of Gravity) Evaluation Tool & Prototype
George Brown College’s Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies have partnered with Toronto Rehab Seating Clinic to produce a Wheelchair Center of Gravity Evaluation Tool prototype. One of North America’s leading rehabilitation sciences centres, Toronto Rehab, is revolutionizing rehabilitation by helping people overcome the challenges of disabling injury, illness or age related health conditions to live active, healthier, more independent lives.
